Minutes of the 8th National Meeting of plant scientists

1. The General Body meeting of the Pakistan Botanical Society started with the recitation from the Holy Quran, on 26th Feb 2002 at the Auditorium of Institute of Industrial Electronic Engineering (IIEE), PCSIR, Karachi.

2. The meeting was presided over by Dr Mustafa Shameel, the President of the Society.
The General Secretary Dr. M. Ajmal Khan presented the progress report and activities of the Society. He also briefed hindrances, which caused delay in convening this conference, which were quite unavoidable in nature.

The following resolutions were passed as under:

1. It was resolved to prepare "Directory of Plant Scientists" which carry brief information about each member of the society.

2. Membership Cards will be issued to the life members of the Pakistan Botanical Society.

3. The forthcoming Election of this Society will be conducted by the end of April 2003. Dr A. Ghaffar will act as Election Commissioner for this election.

4. The 9th National Conference of Plant Scientists will be held at Sindh University, Jamshoro.

5. Regarding PJBot, a web page will be launched.

6. Fixed printing/publication charges of Rs 800/ per paper of five pages will be charged from the author/authors, whereas, paper/article exceeding five pages, will be charged Rs 150 per page.

7. The Pakistani Non-members will levied with membership fees along with printing charges.

8. The Foreign Contributors in PJBot, will pay the fees in double as compared to local members. Mode of payment will be in foreign currency.

9. Dr. M. Ashraf, Department of Botany, University Agriculture, Faisalabad will look after the NEWS LETTER of the Society.

10. Criteria for Khalid Hamid Shaikh Award for young Scientist will be sorted out with the consultation of Chairman/Chairperson, Dept of Botany, the Punjab University Lahore.

11. The proceeding of the 8th meeting will be published as an especial issue of Pakistan Journal of Botany, only those papers which are presented as oral/poster will be considered for publication after per review.
