INDUCED GENETIC VARIABILITY FOR QUANTITATIVE TRAITS IN VIGNA
RADIATA (L.) WILCZEK
Abstract: Mutations were induced in two mungbean varieties, K-851 and Pusa Baisakhi
using sodium azide (SA) as a mutagen. The immediate effects of mutagenic
treatments were measured in terms of biological damage caused in M1
generation. All the mutagenic treatments brought reduction in seed germination,
pollen fertility and survival at maturity. Such reduction, with an exception
of survival, were found to be dose dependent. Mutation Breeding Laboratory, Department of Botany, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh - 202 002 (U.P.), India. |
