Abstract: Crude seaweed extracts of Caulerpa racemosa, Ulva fasciata, Caulerpa faridii, Codium flabellatum, Laurencia pinnatifida, Melanothamnus afaqhusainii, Gracilaria corticata and Scinaia hatei exhibited significant results while Codium iyengarii, Ulva reticulate, Ulva rigida, Scinaia indica, Centroceras clavulatum and Botryocladia leptopoda showed good activity against leishmania in vitro. This unique characteristic of algae will help in the development of novel antileishmanial agents against the prevention of leishmania disease.
