SURVIVAL OF FUNGI ON SEEDS OF BOTTLE GOURD, BITTER GOURD AND CUCUMBER
NASREEN SULTANA, MEHWISH GUL AND A. GHAFFAR*
Abstract: The survival of Lasiodiplodia theobromae in seeds of bottle gourd was correlated with the inoculum level of the fungus on seeds which survived up to 8 months. Survival of M. phaseolina on seeds of bottle gourd and cucumber varied and up to 50% survival was recorded after 5 and 6 months of storage. Recovery of field fungi viz., Alternaria spp., Cladosporium spp., and Fusarium spp., decreased after 3-6 months of storage whereas storage fungi viz., Aspergillus flavus and A. niger were most frequent after 6 till 24 months of storage.
