A PRELIMINARY CHECKLIST OF FLORISTIC ELEMENTS OF TEHSIL DEPALPUR, DISTRICT OKARA, PAKISTAN

Abstract
The current study deals with floristic inventory of Tehsil Depalpur, District Okara. 174 species were recorded belonging to 143 genera and 53 families revealing 01 Pteridophyte (Pteridaceae), 06 monocots (Poaceae, Agavaceae, Areaceae, Cyperaceae, Pontederiaceae and Typhaceae) and 46 dicots (predominantly comprised of Asteraceae, Amaranthaceae, Fabaceae and Euphorbiaceae) families. The floristic analysis was carried out from August 2018 – September 2019. Poaceae (23 spp. and 19 genera) was the most abundant family documented from the study area followed by Asteraceae (17 spp. and 15 genera), Amaranthaceae (10 spp. and 07 genera) and Fabaceae (08 spp. and 09 genera). Amongst the observed floristic elements, 126 species were recorded as a wild and 49 species were cultivated. Leaf spectrum and Life form were also observed. A check list containing herbarium was designed and identification of plants was made through consultation from the Flora of Pakistan. Present research is a step of documentation of vegetation patterns encountered from the Tehsil Depalpur and adjoining areas.
