Nutrients release pattern from decomposition of ruminant manures in Cholistan and Barren land
Muhammad Mudasar
Abstract
A field study was conducted in collaboration with University of Kessel and Gottingen, Germany to evaluate nutrients release pattern from decomposition of ruminant manures in Cholistan and a barren land under natural conditions. The study was laid according to three RCBD with five replications. The ruminant manure (300 g) was taken in a 3 mm nylon mesh with surface area of 400 cm2 and deposited on each location quite near grazing site in Cholistan as per treatment plan. A portable weather station was installed in the middle of three locations. Three samples of each manure type were analyzed as control treatment. There was less loss in organic matter. There was gradual decrease in N, P and K contents of the manure indicating nutrient release because of manure decomposition.
