Abstract

Enable Ginger Citrullus colocynthis (C. colocynthis) is a medicinal plant that can grow in all regions of the world, especially in South Asian Countries (Pakistan & India). It consists of a lot of biologically active primary and secondary metabolites such as carbohydrates, proteins, oil and fats, alkaloids, carotenoids, flavonoids, saponins, glycosides, phenols, tannins, terpenoids, phytosterols, anthraquinone, etc. Due to these bioactive compounds, C. colocynthis revealed different pharmacological activities against anti-diabetic, anti-cancerous, anti-microbial, anti-diuretics, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-laxatives, anticonvulsant, antinuclear, anti-tumor, and protection against UV lights. Many pieces of research were conducted on C. colocynthis to find their effectiveness against different diseases. But the part of the root was not able to get more appreciation. Diabetes is a metabolic disorder that spreads wildly all over the world, especially in Southeast Asian countries like Pakistan, China, and India. According to WHO, 422 million patients are reported worldwide in 2022 whereas, 33 million diabetes patients are documented in Pakistan. So it is very necessary to find an effective and reliable drug, which has low or no side effects on humans as well as cost-effective in nature. In this research, explore the existence of the biologically active components in the roots of the C. colocynthis plant by the usage of preliminary qualitative analysis (with the help of some standard tests) as well as their future perspective against diabetes.  Cannot connect to Ginger Check your internet connection or reload the browserDisable in this text fieldRephraseRephrase current sentenceEdit in Ginger×
