A COMPREHENSIVE STUDY OF THE ANALYTICAL METHODS USED FOR THE DETERMINATION OF ASCORBIC ACID (VITAMIN C)
NAUMAN JAMIL KHAN
Abstract
Since ascorbic acid is so widely used, numerous methods are being developed to accurately measure the antioxidant content of food and pharmaceutical samples. Because of this, it is critical to evaluate these methods. Nonspectrophotometric and spectroscopic methods for water-soluble vitamin analysis are reviewed in this paper, including titrimetry and electrochemical methods such as voltammetry and colorimetric methods such as fluorescence and flow injection analysis as well as chromatographic methods and high-performance liquid chromatography. Each ascorbic acid measurement technique has a distinct and valuable application.
