Abstract
Amanita abbottabadii sp. nov. belongs to the genus Amanita explored and described from northen areas such as Himalayan Moist Temperate Forest (HMTF) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Amanita abbottabadii described as distinct specie based on its molecular phylogenetic ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 nuclear ribosomal DNA (nrDNA) sequence analysis, as well as on its macroscopic and microscopic characterizations. It is distinguished by convex pileus, with slight depression in the center, lime yellow in color near the margins with golden coloration in the center, smooth entire margins with sharp narrow edges. The presence of globular to ellipsoid, slightly epiculate basidiospores, usually thick walled, granular with golden yellow coloration in KOH and remnants of universal veil. The species depiction comprises field photography and line drawings describing fundamental macroscopic characters as well as comparing Amanita abbottabadii to other morphologically and genetically related species in discussion.
