DIVERSITY OF HIGHER VASCULAR PLANTS AND ITS ECONOMIC VALUES FOR

Abstract
Unveiling the Hidden Gems of Yakhtangay Valley, a botanical bonanza! A groundbreaking study revealed a treasure trove of 60 vascular plants, representing 55 genera and 32 families, in Shangla district's Yakhtangay valley. The findings showcased a fascinating mix of 2 gymnosperm species (3.7%) and 58 angiosperm species (96.7%), with dicots making up the majority (52 species, 86.7%) and monocots accounting for 6 species (10%). The study also uncovered the diverse local uses of these plants, including 15 medicinal plants, 13 fuel wood sources, 7 edible fruits, 4 poisonous plants, 5 ornamental gems, and 5 sheltering species. Furthermore, the research revealed a habit breakdown of 44 herbs, 9 shrubs, and 7 trees.
