Abstract
Glaucium Mill. genus (horned poppy), belonging to the family Papaveraceae, represented by a total of 25 species worldwide; 9 species (11 taxa) in Turkey with the addition of new taxa recently added, 5 of which are endemic species. Glaucium taxa (10 taxa) were investigated in terms of their morphological, palynological and phylogenetical characteristics, which were collected from as many different locations as possible in the vegetation period, during May to August of 2011 to 2015. Throughout the study, the drawings showing the differences between the taxa, the microphotographs of the seeds and pollen taken using the electron microscope, the tables showing the characters and phylogenetic tree, including the molecular analysis, were obtained. With the intent of performing a molecular study, for which Papaver rhoeas and Papaver somniferum were selected as the outer group, the analysis of the maximum likelihood (ML) was performed according to the matK and ITS3-6 DNA sequence. The findings of the molecular analysis supported the morphological data, and in light of these results, it was divided into subsections Glabrousae and Pubescentae according to its genus, stem hairs. In addition, taking into consideration the phylogenetically supported characters, the type oriented identification key was reconstituted. Key words: Glaucium, matK, ITS3-6 DNA, Phylogeny, Subsection, Turkey
