OCCURRENCE OF POWDERY MILDEWS (ERYSIPHALES) ON WILD PLANTS OF DISTRICT SWAT; A NEW REPORT FROM PAKISTAN

Abstract
Four species of Powdery mildews from district Swat, i.e. Erysiphe thuemenii U. Braun on Potentilla monanthes Lindle. Ex Lehm., Golovinomyces orontii (Castagne) V.P. Heluta on Mentha longifolia (L.) Huds., G. verbasci (Jacz.) Heluta on Verbascum thapsus L. and Podosphaera fugax (Penz. &Sacc.) U. Braun & S. Takam. on Geranium wallichianum D. Don ex sweet are found as new records in Pakistani parasitic fungal flora. New hosts for these species are also recorded from Pakistan for the first time. A comprehensive description along with illustrations is provided in the present study.
