Asif Ali Mojai
Abstract
Gray mold caused by Botrytis cinerea is one of the major diseases of strawberry, which can cause significantly important pre- and post-harvest fruit losses worldwide. Different districts of Sindh province, where strawberries are cultivated, were visited in 2016. Based on visual inspection, fruits exhibiting symptoms of gray mold were collected during survey. B. cinerea was frequently isolated on PDA from the infected strawberry fruits. And the pathogenicity was later confirmed by inoculation of the pathogen on strawberry fruits in-vitro. To our knowledge, this is the first study on gray mold of strawberry in Sindh province, which could lead further research on gray mold in future.
