ETHNOBOTANICAL STUDIES OF PLANTS RESOURCES OF ARANG VALLEY BAJAUR AGENCY, PAKISTAN

Abstract
The current study was conducted during 2014-15 to explore the plants resources of Arang Valley, Bajaur Agency. It was observed that the area has a rich natural flora and the inhabitants of the area were dependent on these plants resources for various purposes. Ethnobotanical information of plants was gathered through questionnaire and interview by the local inhabitants in different season of the year. Ethnobotanical analysis of 77 species belonging to 46 families showed that 76 plants (98.7%) were used in traditional ways of treatment for various diseases. 41 plants (53.25%) were used as fuel, 17 plants (22.08%) as fodder and the remaining 08 plants (10.39%) as timber wood. Lamiaceae (11 spp) followed by Asteraceae (04spp) were found to be used extensively.
