POLLEN MORPHOLOGY OF ALPINIA (ZINGIBERACEAE) FROM WEST SUMATRA, INDONESIA AND ITS SYSTEMATIC IMPLICATION

Abstract
Pollen morphology of 7 species of Alpinia distributed in West Sumatra was carried out. Pollen feature of Alpinia were observed with the Light Microscope (LM) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Pollen grain were found to be monads, isopolar, large and medium size, spherical, oblate–spheroidal, prolate–spheroidal and echinate sculpture. Alpinia purpurata can be easyly separated from the other taxa by its regulate without the spines sculpture.
