Ethnomedicinal Study of Wild Plant Resources among the Local Communities of Surgahr Range Mianwali

Abstract
This study was conducted to document the ethnobotanical knowledge about wild plant resources of the area. The study area comprised of five villages of Surghar range which were Tola mangali, Mohabbat Khel, Chapri, Kutki and Nasri wala. Field surveys were conducted and ethnomedicinal data was collected through semi-structured interviews of local people. A total of 35 species of ethnomedicinal importance belonging to 25 families were reported. The dominant number of species were used against dermatological and multisystem ailments (21% each), followed by gastrointestinal (16%) and respiratory disorders (13%). Among these species 49% were herbs, 17% were shrubs while 34% were trees. Reproductive parts were the most abundant parts used comprising 33% of the total parts used, followed by wood, shoots and stem bark with 28%, and leaves with 22%.
