ABDUL HAMEED LANJWANI
Abstract
ABSTRACT Solanum surrattense are most important medicinal plants that can be used for treatment of various types of human diseases. Root, stem, leaves, flowers and seeds of solanum surrattense were collected, washed, dried and converted into fine powder. Screening and quantification of phytochemical were done by standard methods. The appreciable amount of phytochemicals including, phenolic compound, tannin, flavonoid, steroid, terpenoid, alkaloid, saponin, glycoside, carbohydrate, amino acid, protein, fat and oil are present in the different parts of the solanum surrattense. It is observed that the all parts show high moisture content excluding flowers, highest ash content (15.4%) in the roots. The highest content (25.8%) of protein in the flowers. The highest content (34.9%) of carbohydrate and alkaloid in the seeds. Highest content phenolic compound (2.26%), flavonoid (1.46%), tannin (0.76%), calcium (17360mg/Kg), iron (437.8mg/Kg), potassium (1257.6mg/Kg), magnesium (336.9mg/Kg) and sodium (1736mg/Kg) were investigated in the leaves. The significant content of Zinc ranging from (8.48-38.48 mg/Kg), Manganese (0.00-40.96 mg/Kg), Cobalt (0.00-8.76 mg/Kg), lead (0.32-25.28 mg/Kg), copper (0.00-6.96 mg/Kg), Cadmium (BDL), Chromium (0.00-4.88 mg/Kg), Nickel (3.04-3.58 mg/Kg) in the different parts of solanum surrattense. The extracts of solanum surrattense were used for Antibacterial activity, the growth bacteria (Escherichia coli, Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aurous, Klebsiella pneumonia) were inhibited by extract of solanum surrattense. The inhibition zones were measured ranging from 0.0- 27mm. It is highly active against Escherichia coli and Bacillus cereus. Solanum surrattense is richest bio-resources of phytochemical which can be utilized as production of drugs for to treat the variety of diseases.
