Abstract
Echinacea purpurea L. is a highly-valuable medicinal plant and attracting great attention today. Therefore, increasing the yield and quality of this plant is becoming more urgent. This article focuses on elucidating its seedling grading standard and optimum planting method by analysis of the yield and content of chiory acid. Moreover, Good Agricultural Practices of E. purpurea were established. The results showed that seedlings of E. purpurea could be divided into three grades: GradeⅠ,seedlings were at least 1.39g of the fresh weight, 7.7 cm of root length, 9.5 cm of height; GradeⅡ, seedlings were 0.79 - 1.38 g of fresh weight, 6.7 - 7.6 cm of root length, 8.1 - 9.4 cm of plant height; Grade Ⅲ, seedlings were 0.66 - 0.78 g of fresh weight, 6.2 - 6.6 cm of root length, 6.7 - 8 cm of plant height. The optimum transplanting date was on May 5th with the planting density of 30 cm×35 cm and the optimum harvest date was August 16th utilizing farm manure as fertilizer.
