TAXANOMIC CHARACTERIZATION OF BRYACEAE AND FUNARIACEAE FROM MUZAFFARABAD DIVISION, AZAD KASHMIR (WESTERN HIMALAYA), PAKISTAN

Abstract
This paper deals with the taxonomic characterizations of family Bryaceae and Funariaceae of bryophytes from Muzaffarabad Division Azad Kashmir (Western Himalaya). Many extensive field surveys were conducted for these during March, 2014 to November, 2017. During this study, 08 species of Bryaceae namely Bryum capillare, Bryum argenteum, Bryum caespiticium, Rhodobryum roseum, Rhodobryum giganteum, Laptobryum pyriforme, Plagiobryum zierii and Rosulabryum capillare while 04 species of Funariaceae i.e. Entosthodon obtusus, Entosthodon handelii, Entosthodon fascicularis and Funaria hygrometrica were reported. These all species of both families were first time reported in the state of Azad Kashmir. Their general distribution, description, morpho-anatomy and keys have also been provided.
