Abstract
The effects of irrigation and cultivation systems on yield and yield components of some important agronomic characteristics of cotton varieties Saeid Khajeh Dangolani , Hossein Ajam Norozi2.*, Ghorban Ghorbani Nasrabad3 & Mohammad Reza Dadashi4 Abstract Transplanting and water efficiency are two important ways to increase optimal cotton yield and use of resources. Therefore, this experiment was carried out with the aim of evaluating the effect of irrigation and planting system on yield, yield components and some important agricultural characteristics of cotton cultivars in Karakand and Hashemabad Research Station in 2016. This experiment was conducted as split plot design in a completely randomized block design with four replications in two locations. The test factors included irrigation levels in 4 levels (irrigation based on 0, 40, 80 and 120 mm based on evaporation pan), cultivar in two levels 1 (Latif) and 2 (Golestan) cultivars, and 2 planting systems (directly and transplanting). In this experiment, traits such as number of vegetative and reproductive branches, number of bolls, weight of 30 bolls, yield of boll, day to flowering and boll opening were measured. Based on the results of this experiment, by increasing the number of irrigations some trials such as number of vegetative and reproductive branches, the weight of 30 bolls and its yield was increased. Also, the results of this experiment indicated that increasing the irrigation time until the flowering stage and opening the bolls increases, which has a direct and significant correlation with its yield in cotton. The results of this experiment showed that transplanting (1387.77 kg/ha), is higher than seed cultivation (1065 kg / ha). Also, cultivar 1 had more boll count per plant than another cultivar. In general, according to the results of this experiment, it is possible to achieve more yields by optimum irrigation of cotton fields. Keywords: cotton, yield, day to flowering, transplanting, - direct culture, irrigation.
