Evaluation of accumulation of Heavy Metals in Arvi (Colocasia esculanta L.) in relation to human health Risk Assessment

Abstract
The current research was done to determine concentration of heavy metals (Cd, Cu, Pb, Zn, Ni and Cr) in vegetable (Arvi) which was grown at two different sites. At Site-II, irrigation with wastewater resulted in a significant increase in heavy metals and metalloids in soil and vegetable. Fe, Cd and Ni at both sites exceeded the suggested maximum levels for Arvi (Colocasia esculanta L.). High bioconcentration factor for Ni, Pb, Zn and high pollution load index for Cd, Cu were also found. High health risk index was indicated that intake of C. esculanta was not free of risk for locals around the sampling sites.
