Formula fertilization for shallow-groove directional cultivation of Chinese yam
Yang Chen
Abstract
The “3414â€ï¿½ experimental design protocol was used to study the effects of different ratios of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fertilizer on the yield of ‘Qinfeng’ Chinese yam plants, thus providing a practical basis for fertilizer application techniques in shallow-groove directional cultivation of Chinese yams. The results showed that appropriate application of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fertilizer can increase Chinese yam yield; however, excessive application reduces it. Chinese yam yield correlated highly and significantly with the amounts of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fertilizer applied. According to the fertilizer effect equation, maximum tuber yield per hm2 was 41015.9 kg, which was attained by application of N, P2O5, and K2O at rates of 400.6, 82.6, and 416.3 kg•hm-2, respectively.
