Abstract
We report here the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles stabilized with methanolic root extract of Elaeagnus umbellata (AgRtCrd) and their urease inhibitory activity. AgRtCrd were characterized by Uv-Visible, FT-IR spectroscopy and AFM. The synthesized nanoparticles, having a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) band at 412 nm and particle size from 20 nm to 40 nm. The nanoparticles showed good stability against NaCl solution, variation in pH and heating. The synthesized NPs were evaluated for their ureases inhibition potential. Interestingly, AgRtCrd exhibited potent urease enzyme inhibitory action of IC50 =10.5 ± 0.176 ng/mL, as compare to their extract, which showed a weak potential with IC50 value of 200 ± 1.28 µg/mL. Thiourea (with IC50 =21 ± 0.11 µM) was used as standerd. This indicated that the urease inhibitory action of the extract is enhanced drastically on conjugation to silver nanoparticles.
