Abstract
Abstract In this study, GC-MS analysis has shown that leaf benzene fraction of rheum ribes (LBFRR) comprises of 41 compounds which exhibited antileishmanial activity. 21-30 out of 41 compounds are presented in this research article. The inhibitory concentration which is observed for leaf benzene fraction of rheum ribes (LBFRR) against parasitic and vector born disease, Leishmaniasis is (IC50 74.55 ± 0.4 ug/ml). For leishmanicidal assay, leishmania major is the specie for analysis. In this bioassay, Amphotericin B (IC50 0.29± 0.05 ug/ml) and Pentamidine (IC 50 5.09 ± 0.09 ug/ml) were used as positive control drugs to compare the parasite inhibition with that leaf benzene fraction of rheum ribes (LBFRR). This activity was perceived under incubation period 72 hours and incubation temperature 22°C. Leaf methanol extract of rheum ribes (LMERR), leaf n-hexane fraction of rheum ribes (LHFRR), leaf aqueous fraction of rheum ribes (LAFRR), leaf ether fraction of rheum ribes (LEFRR), leaf chloroform fraction of rheum ribes (LCFRR) and leaf butanol fraction of rheum ribes (LBFRR) exhibited no antileishmanial activity. Keywords: GC-MS, leaf benzene fraction of rheum ribes (LBFRR), Leishmania major, Pentamidine, Amphotericin B
