Abstract
ABSTRACT The current research work was carried out to evaluate the antifungal, antioxidant potential of n-hexane, chloroform, ethyl-acetate, butanol, methanol and aqueous extracted samples from Maple (Acer pentapomicum) leaves, using Well Diffusion method and DPPH radical scavenging assay. The extracts showed good antifungal activity against Aspergillus niger and Fusarium oxysporium measuring a varying degree of growth inhibition, while showed mild activity against Penicillium chrysogenum and Rhizopus oryzae. Maximum fungal growth inhibition was given by methanol fraction followed by butanol and ethyl acetate fractions against all tested fungal strains. All extracted samples from A.pentapomicum leaves showed strong antioxidant activity. However, crude methanolic extract exhibited maximum antioxidant activity at all concentrations.
