Hepatoprotective potential of Leaves, Bark and Inflorescence of Ipomoea eriocarpa
MUHAMMAD AJAIB
Abstract
The protective effect of ethanolic extracts of Ipomoea eriocarpa by carbon tetrachloride produced liver injury in rabbits were evaluated. The leaves extract exhibited hepatoprotective activity by expressively dropping ALP (alkaline phosphatase), total bilirubin, ALT (alanine aminotransferase), AST (aspartate aminotransferase) levels in blood samples of rabbits and meaningfully increasing the serum total protein. It has been concluded that leaves and bark extracts as compare to inflorescence extract proved themselves as strong therapeutic and remedial agent against human and animal disease.
