HERBAL RECIPES USED FOR DIFFERENT AILMENTS BY THE LOCAL COMMUNITIES OF KOH AREA CHITRAL, PAKISTAN

Abstract
Plants are the natural wealth to treat different ailments in in human and animal species Medicinal plant species are still contributing significantly in primary health care system of local communities resending in high mountains valleys. Ethnobotanical survey was conducted during 2015-2016 with the aim to document the ethnic knowledge of the local inhabitants on medicinal uses of plant species of Mori Payeen Valley-Chitral. Data collected using open and semi-structured interviews from local informants were analyzed using different quantitative tools. In total, 48 plant species along with 88 herbal recipes were recorded. Asteracaeae family was dominant with highest importance value (FIV = 66.4), whereas Rumex hastatus depicted maximum familiarity index (FI = 0.456). Decoction was the common mode of preparation along with oral administration to treat various diseases, particularly digestive disorders with maximum consensus of informants (CI = 0.92). Pharmacological and phytochemical analysis of medicinal plant species with maximum uses could be significant in novel drugs’ detection.
