DETERMINATION OF HEAVY METAL CONTENTS OF SOME WILD EDIBLE MUSHROOMS FROM TURKEY
KENAN DEMİREL
Abstract
In this study, 9 heavy metal (As, Cd, Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn) contents of edible wild mushrooms gathered from two different regions of Turkey and different localities were determined by atomic absorption spectrometry. Concentrations of elements were determined based on dry weight. Four of the mushrooms (Coprinus comatus, Cantharellus cibarius, Pleurotus ostreatus, and Lactarius glyciosmus) from nearby settlements, while three of those (Hydnum repandum, Pleurotus eryngii and Lactarius delicious) were collected from rural areas. The analysis of mushroom samples obtained high percentage of results. The contents of the mushroom samples (13.24, 42.79, 32.25, Nd, 19.11, 12.00, 18.64, respectively) were found in basidiocarps (Co, Cd, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn).
