Abstract


A study was conducted on assessment of nutritional status of children with disabilities. The main objectives of the study were to assess the nutritional status of disabled children and to find out anthropometric assessment using 24-hour recall questionnaire. A total number of 100 students within age 7 to 19 were selected by random sampling. According to study result the mean age of male student was 12.86 ±2.82. Total 28 % of male children had normal weight, 30 % were under weight and 5 % were overweight. Overall 30.7% male students were with single disability (i.e. physical, visual, hearing and intellectual) and 31.7% students were with multiples disabilities (i.e. hearing and speaking, physical and intellectual). The dietary intake of male student showed that the male student consumed 1424.67±363.22 Energy Kcal/. the intake of carbohydrates of male student was 168±54.37 (gm/day. the intake of protein and fats, it is founded that the intake of protein and fats of male student was 75.74±21.35 and 43.73±16.91(gm/day. the dietary intake of female students showed that the female student consumed1205.11±399.54Energy Kcal/day. their carbohydrate intake level was139.3±47.56 (gm/day). intake of protein and fats of female student was 68.97±43.57and 39.89±21.10 (gm/day). The study concluded that both male and female students were malnourished, calories intake was not enough according to their need. So the study suggested organizing nutritional program to aware parents and overcoming malnutrition
