TWO NEW SPECIES OF GYRINOPS (THYMELAEACEAE) FROM NORTH CELEBES, INDONESIA.

Abstract


Hou (1960) stated that in Minahasa, North Celebes, he has found Gyrinops versteegii and other places found G. decipiens. However, when I collected sample in Minahasa, I couldn’t natural species of G. versteegii and also G. decipiens, but I found G. versteegii cultivation which the seedlings came from West Lombok and two new species of Gyrinops (Thymelaeaceae). It’s were examined based on morphological characters. These specimens were compared with herbarium G. decipiens and G. versteegii. These specimens have differences with G. decipiens and G. versteegii on characters of young branches, leaves, inflorescences location, bracts position, flowers, fruits and stipes. These two new species were namely: Gyrinops parmannii and Gyrinops tondanensis. These species were found near Tondano Lake and Lemben Hill in Minahasa District, North Celebes, Indonesia.Hou (1960) stated that in Minahasa, North Celebes, he has found Gyrinops versteegii and other places found G. decipiens.
