Abstract
Crude methanolic extract and their frictions from the rhizome of Trillium govanianum was studied for their phytochemicals, antixoxidant contents and antifungal properties. It was established that Trillium govanianum contain sterol, saponine flavonoids, tanins, protein, carbohydrates, alkaloids and lipids. Crude methanol fraction at highest concentration (250 µg/ml) revealed the maximum antioxidant activities. The second most antioxidant fraction was butanol at the maximum concentration (250 µg/ml) and methanol at (125 µg/ml). The analyzed data further validated that water extracted samples was lowest in the antioxidant activity among all the tested extracts. The methanolic extract and their frictions have shown excellent antifungal potential against the tested fungal strains at the applied concentrations. Results of our studies revealed that crude methanolic extract Trillium govanianum and their various extracts are excellent source of antimicrobials, antixoidants and phytochemicals
