NEW CRUSTACEOUS LICHENS RECORD FOR PAKISTAN
Summaira Shaheen
Abstract
Abstract The present research work describes the lichens diversity in Abbottabad District, Pakistan. Pakistan is a very diverse and rich country regarding its vegetation, that’s why there is a vast diversity of lichens because of appropriate ecological settings for the growth of these creatures. The studied area exhibits domination of crustose lichens but still poorly documented components of lichen biota. In this paper four new genera (Bacidina, Bryoria, Flavoplaca and Psilolechia) and twelve lichen species are presented which are new records for Pakistan: Bacidia incompta, Bacidia schweinitzii, Bacidina adastra, Bryoria furcellata, Buellia subdisciformis, Flavoplaca flavocitrina, Flavoplaca marina, Lecanora conizaeoides, Lecanora gangaleoides, Lepraria elobata, Lepraria incana and Psilolechia leprosa. Internal transcribed (ITS) region of nuclear ribosome was used for their molecular characterization: in this paper, all species described with detail phylogenetic analyses and morphological characters as well.
