INFLUENCE OF CO₂ SEPARATION MEMBRANE MODULE ON REMOVAL OF HARMFUL PATHOGENS (PHYTOPHTHORA INFESTANS) FROM AGRICULTURE FACILITY (GREENHOUSE)

Abstract
This study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of CO₂ separation membrane module on the removal of harmful pathogens from agriculture facility (greenhouses). Four (4) experiments coded as Ex-1, 2, 3, 4 were carried out in 4 different greenhouses named GH-1, GH-2, GH-3, and GH-4, respectively. The amendments done were as followed, Ex-1 without pathogens and membrane module; Ex-2 without pathogens, with membrane module; Ex-3 with pathogens and membrane module; and Ex- with pathogens only. Harmful pathogens (Phytophthora infestans). Media plats, thermo scientific precision incubator, digital colony counter, air sampler (B30120), and point gray camera (FL2G-13S2M-C) were used for image processing and pathogen counting etc. Each experiment was conducted according to the collection time of air for 1min, 3min and 5min on a daily basis for eight weeks and a one-way ANOVA analysis was performed with a significance level of P<0.05. For 1min, 3min, and 5min samples of air the mean value of pathogens was significantly lower (P<0.001) in GH-2 followed by GH-3 due to the application of CO₂ separation membrane module. The relative percentage disease area (PDA) among the greenhouses was found less in GH-2 (17.2±1.2) followed by GH-3 (33.3±1.8). A higher pathogen and more PDA was calculated for GH-4 (69.2±1.7) and GH-1(45.6±0.8) as compare to GH-2 and GH-3. From the results of this experiment, it was concluded that the application of the membrane module to agricultural facilities (greenhouses) is good for crop disease prevention.
