Response of Plant Biodiversity Distribution to Rural Habitat Change in Anji County, China
Hao Wu
Abstract
Great change has occurred in China since 1980s, especially in rural areas. Land use and landscape having been changed, which lead to biodiversity varies. However few researches focus on plant community and plant diversity change in rural residential areas. We want to solve the following problem: (a) What are the composition and distribution characteristics of rural plant diversity? (b) How does plant biodiversity distribution respond to changes in rural habitats? With the research four habitats were classified as rural roads, parks, river banks, farming area. Established a total of 12 sampling sites, and plant name, number, height, diameter at breast height (DBH) were recorded. Calculation of α diversity for species richness (S), Shannon-Wiener index, Pielou index and Simpson index were applied to reflect the number of species in the community and a variety of relative densities. The results shown that for farming area, the highest value of plant diversity fell in the layer of tree and herb; for parks the highest value of herb diversity was in the layer of shrub, the value reached 11.0. On the other hand, for the species composition similarity on the layer of tree and shrub between parks and farming area, the smallest values were 0.07 and 0; for herb composition similarity, the smallest value was 0.03 between roads and farming area. Plant diversity was the highest in farming area, and its distribution was even. The result implied that during rural landscape construction to keep a certain area of farming area was significant for plant diversity protection.
