Abstract
Malus Pumila cider vinegar has been considered as a helpful health therapy in these days. It has been utilized in different measurement frames in alternative medications for several conditions such as weight loss, antioxidant and antimicrobial activity. In this study model animal rats were distributed in ten groups (n=6) and Potassium oxonate (PO) (250 mg/kg) injected intraperitoneal one hour before dissection to induce hyperuricemic effects. Three concentrations of Malus Pumila cider vinegar 0.8%, 1.6%, and 2.4% were used in distilled water for 30 days. Normal saline was used as negative control and allopurinol was used as a positive control. The effects of Malus Pumila cider vinegar on serum uric acid level were evaluated after 7, 15 and 30 days’ administration. The present study indicated that Malus Pumila cider vinegar in both concentrations 0.8% and 1.6% have significantly (p<0.05) effects on serum uric acid level. However, a concentration of 2.4% showed no effects after 7 and 15 days of its administration, and it was continued up to 30 days. Molecular docking analysis showed that a type of flavonoid Anthocyanin is the best bioactive compound that inhibited the xanthine oxidase activity due to its highest binding energy -8.3 (kcal/mol). Therefore, results indicated that Malus Pumila cider vinegar has considerable decrease effects on serum uric acid level in hyperuricemic rats. So, Vinegar can be used in combination therapy to reduce the side effects of allopurinol. The pathway of this action and its significance remain to be clarified in future studies.
