Abstract
Palynological analysis of forty one melliferous and allergenic pollen grain were carried out. For melliferous pollen spectra sixty five honey samples were collected from selected sites of arid region of Pakistan. Forty one pollen grains types belonging to twenty six families including Brassicaceae, Myrtaceae, Asteraceae, Rosaceae, Poaceae etc. were extracted and studied from collected honey samples. Pollen contents belong mostly to angiosperms while only one gymnosperm representation was observed. Some pollen were identified at generic and few others at species level. For palynological studies of allergenic flora previously identified local allergenicl plants of selected site were collected. Pollen morphological examination along with pollen symmetry, polarity, ornamentation, aperture, shape and size were studied under field emission scanning electron (FESEM). Diverse range of the pollen shape and sculpturing was observed ranging from monad to polyad and sculpturing ranged from psilate to echinate, scabrate to reticulate, bireticulate or echinolophate.
