Abstract
Akinetogenesis and gametogenesis were
stidied in dichotomosiphon tuberoses from hub river (Pakistan) . filaments were found to contain abundabce amyloplasts , akinetes were septate and arranged in chains with male gametes completely lacking flagella. Arguments are give in favour of keeping this monospecific genus in its own order, dichotomosiphonales the affinities of this order have been discussed with other siphonus algae. A diagrammatic scheme has been suggested to show the phylogenetic positions of dichotomosiphonales and to indicate its interrelationships with the other orders of bryopsidophyseae.
