Abstract
Gentical studies on lys-5 mutants
have reveald that they are highly sterile as well as produce mostl y inviable mutant acospore progency when crossed to other strains. In addition to the other known methods
, back crossing of lys-5 mutants, markers and double mutants repeatedly to the parental wild type emerson strain has proved to be effective in improving their fertility.
