Abstract

Studies on 39 U.V. induced lys-5 mutants have shpwn that a mutation at this locus not only results in a requirement for lysine but also retards the maturation of spores. The mutant spores lack pigment at a stage of development when the wild type spores have acquitted it. Mutant spores are mostly inviable, the inviability of mutant acospores have been found to range from about 70 to 95%. Both the pigments and viability of acspores generally improves with time. In addition to the expcted first and second division, segregation patterns of coloured and colourless spores , 98 different
